YOU HAVE ARRIVED AT:
THE CATALOGUE

I split my catalogue into three forms of practice; each loosely differentiated by how they relate to time.

  • PUBLIC ART is understood to have a long duration, to be a “permanent” gesture within a landscape; be it social, environmental, etc.

  • INSTALLATION ART is believed to be ephemeral; often expressed for only a series of days. It affords the opportunity to dive deep into some aspect of the landscape, exploring an idea. After this duration, the work vanishes in all but memory, imagination and documentation.

  • VISUAL ART captures a moment in time. It embodies an ethos and way of thinking unique to each piece.

And all art, regardless of these categories is a way of IMMERSING ONESELF IN CONTEXT. The process of making art is less about the product and more about how one spends time with a place; paying attention to its qualities; meeting the people who live there and using the [art]work as a way to learn about their desires, their lives and livelihoods; In brief, playing.

This is a lesson that starts with the patience of watercolours and extended to the time required for the construction of a home.
